My Dad loves to sleep in. I suppose that 50 years of rising before dawn and heading to work in downtown Dallas has earned him the right. Mom was a different story. She was up and at 'em by 5:00 a.m. almost every morning. She loved to get up early and drink coffee, while reading her bible. A mom with five kids didn't have a lot of choices, if she wanted some private time. Jesus rose "a great while before day" on a regular basis. The bible describes His early morning prayer life as "His custom." In other words, He did this regularly. The early morning is a great time to talk to God and to listen for His voice. There are less distractions and your mind and spirit seem to be more open to give and receive from the Lord. My favorite private place is my back porch. When I refer to "back porch time" that's what I'm speaking of. I have a cat named Inski who joins me every morning. While I pray and read he chases mockingbirds and rests at my feet. He's my prayer partner! It's a good thing to find a quiet place to get alone with God. If you don't already, try rising early and spending a little bit of time alone with God. You'll be glad you did!
Love ya!
